  NEET Programme

Our aspiration is that all young people stay on in education or training to 18, developing the skills that will enable them to succeed in life. Only if all our young people are engaged with learning in this way will we prosper together in a changing world economy. Staying in learning not only supports young people to get a better job; it also improves their life chances and equips them with the personal and social skills they need to thrive throughout their lives. Below is a detailed information of our NEET (not in education, employment or training) programme.

  Tackling NEET is about:.

Prevention – stopping young people becoming NEET: motivating and engaging them while they are still in school and offering attractive and relevant post-16 provision,
Intervention – knowing what young people are doing, having the resource to contact or be contacted by them, challenging their expectations and being able to offer opportunities and support when and where they need them, ensuring successful transition.
Sustainability – helping young people, especially those with a history of ‘dropping out’, to tackle any obstacles to their engagement so they can remain engaged.
